Government shutdown threatens Crypto timeline
Now that we are well over a month into the Government shutdown, it is beginning to cast a shadow on the timeline for crypto. Meetings have continued to bring Democrats to the table to discuss the Clarity act - however as politicians are wont to do, they are easily distracted.
Democratic pro-crypto politicians are dismayed by the pardon of CZ, founder of Binance. He was pardoned by the President, as what he was charged with was not an accurate representation of the crimes he did actually commit. The latest humiliation for Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s and the former SEC’s war on crypto, however this has not stopped a senate enquiry being triggered.
U.S. Senate Members Hold Private Roundtable With Crypto CEOs on Market Regulation
On October 22, senators from both parties met privately with top cryptocurrency executives to advance comprehensive U.S. digital-asset regulation. The discussion focused on clarifying SEC vs. CFTC authority, creating a federal framework for stablecoins and payments, tightening AML and sanctions compliance, and bolstering consumer protections and market integrity. Lawmakers also weighed standards for custody, disclosure, prudential oversight, and taxation.
Despite some tense exchanges, bipartisan backing for new market-structure legislation remains strong—reviving optimism that a clear national framework could arrive by 2026.
