Crypto Inheritance Update: June 2025
A newsletter for Vault12’s customers on regs, the industry, and crypto inheritance management.
June Highlights:
Senate Moves Forward on Stablecoin Regulation – House Up Next
In a major step toward regulating the $250 billion stablecoin market, the Senate has passed the GENIUS Act (Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins) with strong bipartisan support (68-30). The bill sets the stage for new oversight and clear standards for stablecoins in the U.S.
Meanwhile, attention shifts to the House, where lawmakers are advancing their own digital assets legislation. The CLARITY Act (Digital Asset Market Clarity Act) has already cleared two key committees:
Agriculture Committee: 47–6
Financial Services Committee: 32–19
Next stop: the House Rules Committee, which will decide how the bill will be debated and amended on the House floor.
Stay tuned—this could mark a turning point for U.S. crypto regulation.
Definitions: The CLARITY Act (Digital Asset Market Clarity Act) is a key part of the broader digital asset market structure bill being advanced in the House.
Here’s how it breaks down:
The market structure bill refers to a comprehensive legislative package aimed at defining how digital assets (like cryptocurrencies and stablecoins) should be regulated in the U.S.
The CLARITY Act is a central component of this package. It specifically focuses on defining the roles of the SEC and CFTC, setting rules for when a digital asset is a security vs. a commodity, and establishing pathways for compliance.
CZ, founder of Finance recently gave remarks in an interview about the need for every crypto platform to have a “Will” or inheritance function.
We are busy briefing platforms on what it takes to bring this capability to their everyday customers.
Let us know if you have a favourite exchange who should power their inheritance using Vault12 (for less than a dollar a day). Don’t forget to send a message to your crypto platform provider, recommending Vault12.
And for our competitors, we’ve been doing this for ten years, you might copy or replicate our capabilities, but you certainly don’t have the strength in depth, nor the privacy protection to ensure digital assets can be safely passed on to future generations. We know, we’ve checked. Happy to license.

Choosing a Crypto Wallet
One of the first choices every new crypto user faces is picking a wallet. We can’t tell you which one is perfect for you—there are literally hundreds—but we have put together some comparisons that highlight key strengths to help you decide what might fit best.
Let’s kick things off with “Ledger vs Trezor: Which Hardware Wallet Is Best in 2025?” Over the years, we’ve chatted with both companies, about why crypto inheritance actually matters.
You can use them to store your crypto—and you can use Vault12 to back them up and ensure your assets can be inherited. We’ve published a bunch of comparisons—check them all out here.
Speaking of backups…
Crypto can be notoriously tricky to store securely, and that makes backing up your wallet non-negotiable. Whether your wallet gets lost, stolen, or decides to spontaneously combust, a proper backup ensures you can recover your funds. It’s also a must for inheritance—so your crypto doesn’t vanish when you do. Here’s a guide we like: “How to Back Up Your Crypto Wallet”.
